GM5 removal instructions for BMW Z4 2006
Step by step instructions for removing the General Module from your BMW Z4. Faults to the GM5 can be repaired at Cartronics, send the module to us or book in for a complete removal, repair and re-install service!
The GM5 controls the power window control, remote entry, the boot release, alarm, interior lights and windscreen wipers. Removing the GM5 will mean that none of the above work. The GM5 can be found in the following cars – BMW GM5 (General Module) fitted on 3 Series between 1998 and 2005, Z4 between 2002 and 2008, ZE all years and X3 2003 and 2010.

When the GM5 module is reinstalled after repair it is good to go.
There is no need for recoding or programming. It should just work.
When testing the door locks make sure that the driver’s door is closed. The module will not let you lock the doors if the driver’s door is open.
